The Oils collection is a series of oil paintings inspired by the texture and intensity of wild felines. Created by Maria in three sessions at Ateliê Canal, under the guidance of artist Andreia Falqueto, these works capture more than just shapes and colors: they evoke tactile sensations, the unmistakable smell of oil paint, and deep memories.
The creative process brought back memories of her childhood in her grandmother Themis’ studio, where art came to life with every brushstroke. The oils also reflect the maturation of femininity and the mysterious power of felines – symbolized by their bearing, penetrating gaze, and natural elegance. The name of the collection, in addition to referring to the technique used, celebrates Maria’s fascination with the eyes of these animals, which have become the focal point of her paintings.
